Kawaii giveaway and cute Helloween fabrics

modeS4u reached 10.000 fans on their facebook fansite so they decided to make a kawaii giveaway! ♥  Take a look here to see it’s worth it :3

Besides that their shop is worth a visit anyway. They sell a lot of cute stuff from Japan and I’m crazy about the Helloween fabrics. Matryoshkas, cats and cute other things combined into one pattern – adorable!

Japan Memories: Zakka Shopping

I spent a lot of my free time in 100 Yen shops but from time to time A. and I went for some quality shopping. It’s a pity we only discovered shop ilex (follow the street behind Feel News south [right for all the girls out there ;) ] and you’ll find it on the left side after approx. 10 minutes by bike) in April when it was almost time to go back. Shop ilex was stuffed with zakka. The sortiment ranged from bento boxes to natural style clothes. Simply looking at the pictures gives me a funny sensation in my stomach that is a wild mixture of happiness and „I wanna go back“.

Shop ilex does have a website: :arr_right: shop
Unfortunately it’s only in Japanese and you can only find a small selection outside their clothes range. It’s a pity because in my eyes the shop’s strongest point was the stationary department. Japan loves masking tapes with all kinds of colors and patterns. Here are some examples:

I especially adore the one with the weekdays on it. Would be a great addition to any diary, calendar or schedule.

If you are in love as much as I am you wanna buy them…now xD So here’s another online shop called UGUiSU (found via decor8). The entire website is in English and they offer shipping worldwide. Have fun shopping! :3

Day 17 in Japan: Lizzards & Purple Baths

So just a brief summary for today. You already know I’m tired every morning (because I had slept in the afternoon I wasn’t able to sleep at night ^^°) and today was no exception. Together with Anna we rode our bikes to school (for the second time I crushed into the wall, I wonder what’s wrong with me *lol*) and met this prehistorical appearing miniature lizzard.

20091020_01

Due to need for some coffeine we went to the schools automat and I simply wanted to buy a bottle of Coke…of course I didn’t have a 100 Yen coin (not even a 1000 Yen note, you can buy with them, too) so I asked Anna for one…nor did she have a coin, BUT a 1000 Yen note…we bought the coke and…the automat returned 900 Yen in 10 Yen coins!!! O.o The slot for the change was soon full and the coins piled up. now there were so many we werent able to push the little slide door to the change open…it worked finally with a little love and lots of violence. My wallet looked like it was pregnant with all the 10 Yen coins inside.

The day went by like no one ever did before in Germany at school or university, though today my selectives started and lessons ended at three thirty. Those of you following this blog for some weeks now know Tuesday is tokubaibi at Jusco so we went there for groceries shopping…and yes of course we got lost in all the kawaii shops and bought some cute stuff, too. But more about that tomorrow. I have bought meat…real meat. I have to stop eating carbohydrates from morning to evening, so meat, fish, eggs and even more meat ^_~

Every time we come to the Aeon Mall in the evening we laugh because at the bicycle parking lot the bike gang has parked its motor-bikes..and then we come and squeeze our rusty, old bikes in between.

20091020_01

We stopped at the women’s restroom and I realized there’s this sign where you can see how big actually only that one restroom is!

20091020_01

at Daiso i bought some rosemary batha dditive and didn’t realize it would also color the water…but cute, isn’t it?

20091020_01

That’s it for today, take care!

Alles Liebe,

Day 15 in Japan: Even more Toilets

I’m sorry for the lack of information yesterday ( I received complains), but I’m more and more tired everyday. Last night I had mosquito terror, but I killed the beast this morning *evil laughter*

But back to yesterday. I had planned to meet Sarah at a nearby coin laundry so we could go manga shopping again (on saturday we get twice the amount of stamps)…but somehow she didn’t turn up. I was afraid I had mistaken the time and so I looked at my map and tried to find her Yamasa accomodation. In the end (when I was about to give up) I found the house and even the correct appartment due to a certain frog umbrella ^_~

Together we bought a bunch of mangas and went of course again to our beloved 100 Yen store „Daiso“. I don’t think there’s much more to tell.

20091018_01

With Anna a little bit sick today I was on the road with Sarah again. For the first time we used the toilets there…so, yeah, another entry about toilets ^^ I like all the service appliances around. For example there are toilets with child seats, so the Mommy’s can have a relaxed restroom experience and the baby does not crawl around.

20091018_01

20091018_01

The icon of the „spray“ button is lovely, isn’t? ^^ And my new favourite to the right: „Powerful Doedorizer“! XD

20091018_01

This is a look into the handicap stall. We didn’t dare to go into it but there were even more buttons!

20091018_01

20091018_01

Near the toilets there are lockers for the complete shopping cart, not only a small handbag and coat. Great!

20091018_01

Today we were brave enough to try on some skirts. (you have to be brave to go shopping for clothes here, at least with my size and butt ^_~) First I was irritated about the changing room. There’s no stool or chair like in Germany for your clothes but a basket and the wooden thing on the left side is a dispenser for face covers so the clothes won’t be spoiled by make-up.

20091018_01

Though I found a cute skirt I didn’t buy it. Perhaps in some weeks when my prediction comes true and I have lost some weight. Instead I bought some more of the crystal cube  pens and a very kawaii Disney memo…what do you call this? It’s for memorizing vocabulary.

20091018_01

Now I’d like to introduce you to my new friend Natchan ^^ I tried to resist him for two weeks, but now I had to buy a bottle. Who could resist such a charming guy?

20091018_01

We met at the supermarket and on the spot he decided to move in with me. His hobbies are being cute and staring out of the window. Isn’t he adorable? I love my new Natchan!

Another Postcard left Japan, this time to Germany. Who of you might be the lucky one?

Alles Liebe,

Day 13 in Japan: B.B.Q. & Creepy Sweets

Dear readers, it’s Friday Night and one week of school is already over. We’ve done three and a half lessons, that’s so quick and still it doesn’t feel too fast. My Japanese improves with every day and at least rudimental conversation becomes easier. It’s a new hobby to ask people in the supermarket or at the post office for some help concernign different matters. I might scare them, but for me it’s great.

For lunch I’ve tried a new bento (I was too tired in the morning to make my own) and lion-hearted I chose the cheap one with the fish…you know, seafood isn’t my favourite kind of dish. The classmate I had met at the shop told me that the deep-fried stuff might be potatoes and sweet-potatoes…it was not. When my German girls at the table saw what I had bought, they were all like „There might be fish/seafood inside“…this sentence hunts me over here…and it’s true: In Japan there might be fish in anything!
I cannot exactly tell what all of this was…but the yellow thing in the middle was calamary and it tasted good…it’s only that I shouln’t have had a look at what it looked like beneath the tempura…calamary do have suckers, you know!? Creepy!

20091016_01

Today after school I slept for some time (I cannot admit it’s been almost two hours) and then met Anna and Sarah to go for some shopping in Wing Town before we left of to the „New Students B.B.Q.“ at the student’s bar „Zig Zag“. With Helloween ahead there are funny costumes in every shop like Care Bear overalls or Pikachu caps.

20091016_01

At a car park I took this picture, secretly, of course. I didn’t intend to annoy the hardcore biker who’s the driver of this… (haha, compare the size to the bike next to it ^^)

20091016_01

At the B.B.Q. there were less people than expected…nobody seemed to know or be interested. No matter what, it was a fun event.

20091016_01

20091016_01

At around ten we left and went to the post office (there ARE plenty of people to hand in their stuff at this time) and to JUSCO to satisfy our late night Fanta and chocolate cravings. Here are two funny pictures (at least for me, I don’t know these things from Germany) with a back and…what’s that…a shaver for the sole of the foot? b. assured me it’s anatomically impossible to have hair at that spot, so it must be for horny skin instead…but if you only take a quick look…XD

20091016_01

Ans I suppose those are …what? Perhaps Q-Tips…?

20091016_01

But as I said we went there for chocolate and in between all the delicious cookies and sweets I found THIS! Creepy, creepy, creepy! It’s dried octopus or something and looks like an alien from „Independence Day“!!!

20091016_01

However one of the best things today was that two Japanese young women suddenly spoke to us and asked if we could meet to hang out together for some English/Japanese practice, girls chat and to simply have fun. I’ve received an email by one of them just some minutes ago. I wasn’t sure wether I’d be able to make Japanese friends, now it was that easy!

Alles Liebe,

Day 8 in Japan: Shop till you drop

Yuo all really must get the feeling all I do is go shopping here…well, to a certain extend that’s true, but today after breakfast I actually learned. I saw that there are so many words I have to repeat. All the time my window to the street was open and I could hear drums from afar. I wonder if this was a matsuri (festival) or some kind of temple parade? Till I had finished the sound was gone and so I couldn’t go after it with my bike, but instead I met Anna and we planned to go to the 100 Yen shop…only for some quick shopping (I had made a list what I need for my household). Well, first of all we went to the train station so I could pick up some money at the post office’s ATM.

20091011_04

Today it not only spoke, but it refused to give me money for several times. It seems I do have a limit of how much I can withdraw per day, maybe even week. That’s a problem, because I have to pay my rent here and it will take me a week of everyday money withdrawing till I’ve got the right amount >_<

Right next to the ATM there’s a robbery alarm button. I guess the robber will shoot you before you have a chance to press it, I mean, in movies clerks are shot when they press the button secretly beneath their desks!

20091011_04

On our search for the main post office (the one at the station was closed and I needed to send a letter and a postcard) we came across some lovely stuff. This little house has got a sign attached which reads „imported from USA and Europe“.

20091011_04

Anna!

20091011_04

I love all the cute and funny signs. Look at how the dog blushes!

20091011_04

While I don’t think the entire city is that beautiful I love the many little details like the manhole cover which shows Okazaki castle and some hanabi (fireworks).

20091011_04

We finally found the post office or in other words discovered it’s the one very close to our apartments (it’s been in the wrong place on my map) and guess what, they have an ATM, too. So no more bike rides to the station for withdrawing money. I was astonished when I saw the post office is open 24/7. Who the heck hands in some letters at three o‘ clock in the morning? However I told the clerk in Japanese that I’d like to send my letter to Germany, asked if it’s correct that postcards are 70 Yen and bought 10 stamps. I was really proud of myself ^^

Here’s the postcard I threw into the mailbox…someone of you is going to receive it (the person who’s most eagerly waiting for post by me)

20091011_04

After that we went to Seiyu to buy some food (it took me hours to find pickled ginger) and finally to the 100 Yen store, where I bought lots of cleaning  and bento stuff. Those mini donuts for example…well, they are meant for my bento but not from the 100 yen shop…but so cute! (approx. the size of a 2 Euro coin)

20091011_04

One of the most cutest things I’ve ever seen (thanks to Anna) is this salt shaker. Isn’t it Miffy?

20091011_04

And more food with faces *kawaiiiiii* I had decided NOT to buy cute exercise books for school, but when I saw these…

20091011_04

And I guess you want to see my bento stuff. Some of you may know the onigiri-box, I’ve got the same at home in Germany.

20091011_04

More interesting are all the bento accesoires that are available. So far I’ve bought egg molds (to the left in bunny and bear shape), an onigiri-mold (bottom), sidedish-cups (in the middle; with a cat on everyone that’s dressed like a witch and tells my fortune for every day…sometimes my lucky number or a place where I should go ^^), soy sauce bottles with animal caps (right) and the cutest thing on earth: aluminum foil with strawberries and flowers on it! I’m going to die due to kawaii-overdose soon ^^

20091011_04

Now I’m going to enter a bath with Harry Potter *wink* and a chocolate éclair. Tomorrow starts the serious part: Lessons begin with a vocabulary quiz. I’ll give my best!!!

Alles Liebe,
