The moment I decided my ripple blanket would be finished soon I was eager to try out new patterns. For the next blanket of course. Once you’ve started to crochet blankets I don’t think there’s a way back.
Via ravelry I stumbled upon the African Flower pattern. Once you’ve got the hang of it (and aren’t too tired, or you’ll end up with seven flower petals, like I did xD) those are easy to make and can be joined on the go.
In my opinion the chosen colors make a crucial difference wether the african flowers look good or not. To be honest I’m not the best when it comes to pretty color combos. It’s not that I’d combine orange with brown and spinach green (and there might be a charm in that one, too…if you lived in the 70s…and are a hospital wall or something similar), but my creations always lack that certain something. Fortunately there are others like Lucy of Attic24 or in this case MiA Inspiration who really know what they do.
I love the oriental touch of those different shades of blues and pinks together.
